the Hot Summer Fun

• June 13th, 2011

Somehow my summers were a blast at the same time boring.  The countless hours watching TV.  Sleeping in late.  Staying up late.  I look back at all that time and I could say it was time well wasted... but I hate wasting time.  So for this weeks episode of 'the Opus' we talk about summer activities that are not only musical but also educational.  Let the summer fun begin.  Please rate, comment, subscribe... and as always thank you for supoprting 'the Opus'.

the Felines and Fidos Feel Rock N Roll

• May 23rd, 2011

Honestly animals don't feel music the way we do but they are stimulated by it in ways we are. Therefore, do you think your pet (cat, dog, aligator, great white shark, etc.) understands, appreciates, or likes music? More importantly do you think they like the music you listen to? That's approach we take in this weeks episode of 'the Opus' and we WANT YOUR FEEDBACK! Plus we feature a great song about the Jungle Book sinister villan "Shere Khan". Please don't forget to rate, comment, and subscribe!

the Final Frontier is About to Get Shinned

• January 30th, 2011

"If you could send a message into space thru a song what song would you send?" That's the approach we took for this episode of 'the Opus'.  The idea is not new.  In fact in the documentary 'The Heart Is A Drum Machine' we learn how a golden record of sounds and music from Earth was sent with the Voyager spacecraft.  It's a noble thought, but seriously who did they expect would listen.  So for this episode I ask that you listen to some song selections that I would send into space (or aliens if believe that sort of thing).  Plus we feature a song from 'Moon  & Sun'.  Don't forget to comment on this weeks show and as always thank you for supporting 'the Opus'.

the Theme Music is Sabotage

• January 21st, 2011

Rocky.  Saturday Night Fever.  9 to 5?  Ok so not all movies have great theme songs.  But you have to admit that there are many movies with great stories that have great theme songs to them.  I happen to think Sabotage from the Beastie Boys is a good song for me, yet I don't think it represents the whole theme to my life.  On this weeks episode of 'the Opus' we talk about the theme song or music that best fits the story of your life.  Plus we feature a great song perfect for 'The High Seas'.  Please rate, comment, and subscribe if you already haven't.  As always thank you for supporting 'the Opus'.

the Pirates Will Lose

• December 31st, 2010

You may be the victim of piracy.  Who are we kidding?  There are a number of us (if not all of us) that have participated in one form or another of piracy.  I hate to admit it but I've used Limewire once or thrice.  Yet I believe once we realize the harm we are causing by partaking in illegal downloads we can then start the healing process.  Listen to this weeks episode of the Opus as we talk about the top 10 most illegally downloaded albums of 2010.  Plus we take a look at how you "bought" your music this past year.  At the same time we feature new music that's a 'Hurricane' of an opus.  Please rate, comment, and subscribe if you already haven't.  We're Free on iTunes!  Take that Pirates!

the Weather is Playing Our Song

• December 24th, 2010

So I did something totally different for this episode of the Opus.  I tried to interview random people (mainly at the local Starbucks) on their thoughts of the weather and their mood in music.  To my surprise, not many were willing to take my offer with the exception of one gentleman.  Listen to the latest episode of the Opus as we ask:  Does weather have an effect on the choice of music we listen to?  Plus I highlight a GREAT song from a hip hop duo from Spain: VisionespanoramiK.  Please post your comments about the show on our website and as always thank you for supporting the Opus.

the Silent Studies Student

• December 17th, 2010

Okay Armando Avila... you asked for this one.  On this latest episode of the Opus we talk about the effect music has on students (or anyone for that matter) while studying.  Does listening to music help or hurt while studying on a specific subject?  Do you prepare for a final while listening to music?  There are studies, articles, and blogs on the matter.  But why bother reading those boring sites when you can listen to the Opus and get an accurate, truthful, yet biased answer.  Plus we highlight a great song from a 'Fresh' French band.  Please rate, comment, and subscribe.  As always thank you for supporting the Opus.

Hola Gente!  How long has it been?!  Too long!  So here is the latest episode of the Opus.  On this weeks show we talk about the misconceived ideas about Spanish music or music with Spanish lyrics.  Listen as Santiago highlights 3 great songs that prove not all Spanish music is trumpets or accordions.  Plus, don't forget to check out our sponsors the great comedic YouTube show Bare Love Lunch Special at ReallyIsaacStudios Channel.  Please rate, comment and subscribe.  Thanks for supporting the Opus!
